Regardless of USB to serial hardware, linux sometimes enumerate the ttyUSB ports in different orders. With several RSUV3As on one SBC, is there a way to uniquely identify each?

Maybe RR a register with a chip specific number? Can one read the unit serial number this way?

I need to know which unit is connected to which port at startup, and short of making a bunch of udev rules, I figured it would be easier and smarter to query the boards.

How to go about doing that?

Thanks

I don't think that there is a unique identifier available in the PIC natively. I might be able to add a programmable 'name' so that you can assign a unique identifier to each unit. You might even be able to do this now by storing unique info in some parameter that you don't use, maybe the CW ID field or an unused channel memory.

Let me know if you want me to look into adding the 'NAME' field.

Something like that would be awesome. It would be better if something was there that couldn't be erased by a factory reset but a programmable 'name' would work.

Is it possible to detect if the UVPA is attached?

A name would be great if that's not too much trouble.

Thanks!!
