Just for those of you who would try the rs-hfiq on a Linux box:

I wrote a hardware description of the rs-hfiq to use with quisk.
https://github.com/dl1ksv/rshfiq

With this description you run quisk / rs-hfiq as sdr tranceiver. Together with fldigi or wsjtx connected via the alsa loopback device you can handle digital modes.
It's even running on a PI2 but you have to be patient. But this may depend on my setup. There is no screen attached to my PI and I start both quisk and wsjtx via ssh from my laptop.
At this point, it was a proof of concept for me.

As the hardware description is pure python it should even work with quisk on windows, but I couldn't test.

In addition I wrote a gnuradio out of tree module gr-rshfiq for the rs-hfiq to use it as input source in gnuradio and an extension of the gr-osmosdr module.
You can use this in gnuradio, too, but more interesting for me: build gqrx with this extension and you can use the rs-hfiq inside gqrx.

You find the gr-rshfiq https://github.com/dl1ksv/rshfiq
and the gr-osmosdr package https://github.com/dl1ksv/gr-osmosdr

This may serve as starting point for others to work or experiment with the rs-hfiq on linux.
Have fun
Volker, dl1ksv

hi Volker
thanks for your fine job! Yesterday night I setup everything in my fedora Linux 29 and my RS-HFIQ is working... somehow.
Im preparing a manual on how to set it up with fedora.
The biggest difficulty has been in making the rig to transmit, it is transmitting right now but the output seems to be around 2W only.
I have tried to reconfigure quisk in order to raise the power output but the power remains at 2W. Do you have any suggestion on how to raise the power to 5W? It will be greatly appreciated.
My setup is:
RS-HFIQ->USB to /dev/ttyS0 into my laptop
RS-HFIQ -> Startech.com USB audio @48khz
quisk reading from USB Audio
wsjt-x receiving/sending from/to quisk internal/external audio loop
When I press TUNE in wsjt-x I only reach 2W, also is I transmit, 2W is the max output.
Attached to this post several screen captures
