On the HR 50, there is a hang time setting.
What does it do?
Is it used for PTT, or COR, or both?
If it is it not set correctly, what are the ramifications (damage?).
How do I set it...do I need a scope?
Thanks,
Alan

Hi Alan,

The hang time is the time between when the COR detector loses signal detection and the time the amp switches back to RX mode. It is mostly a matter of personal preference, I don't think that there is a 'wrong' setting.

If you are using SSB most users don't want the amp switching back to RX after every pause in speech so set it to 500 to 750 msec. For CW/digital operation you can run a much lower delay due to the nature of the signals. For high speed QSK operation set it to 0.

If you are using PTT mode, this setting has no effect, it is only used in COR mode.
